The primary purpose of Newham SNB is to:
* get the local Police to account for their strategies and operations to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour;
* give the local community a greater voice in setting police priorities; and
* supporting crime prevention projects in the community.
Newham SNB plays the very important role of facilitating independent scrutiny of policing with the participation of local community representatives and organisations dealing with related areas such as Youth, Elderly. Newham SNB therefore places a high priority on ensuring that the local Police listen to the community with the aim of adopting crime solutions that those impacted recommend.
